A theater and religion major, Williams includes all aspects of her craft into her music, touching on many topics such as religion, adolescence, gender issues,anti- commericalism, misunderstood relationships, loss, humor, and geography. Williams was called "one of America’s very best singer-songwriters." By Hendrik Hertzberg of the New Yorker.
